LOCUM TENENS Young Adult / Science Fiction Book Review #LocumTenens

LOCUM TENENS Young Adult / Science Fiction Book Review

#LocumTenens

AN ENTERTAINING PAGE TURNER!

Mike's society is far from perfect.
Mike's generation has been robbed of its opportunity: institutionalized discrimination, government-sanctioned poverty, and the abuse of discarded military veterans are among the terrible dystopian outcomes of his society's total government.

Mike wasn't meant for military training...
He studied hard to get the scores needed for advanced schooling, only to be coerced by his community to take his brother's place in military training as a 'Locum Tenens,' after his brother is sent home. Training where Inductees face life and death in the Agoga. Can Mike survive the hardships and deprivations of the Agoga so that his brother can have some kind of future? Will Mike survive?

ALL OF THE TECHNOLOGY IN THE SERIES ACTUALLY EXISTS.

Author Jay Beckstead is a registered patent attorney that weaves existing, mind-blowing technology into the story.

After reading Locum Tenens Volume 1, I was left wanting more. Luckily, I already had Locum Tenens Volume 2, and the story seamlessly continued, building upon what we had already learned about the characters in the first volume.

Mike is likable and smart; an underdog and torn between what he really wants for himself, and what he considers as his duty to his brother and his community. The author did a great job making me care about Mike and about what will happen to him along his journey. It is easy to identify with him as he struggles to do what he thinks is the right thing and the fear of being sent home a failure or dying, as it seems that is a real possibility during this very dangerous military training.

Mike refuses to quit, even though many in his class, more qualified for this training, have already done so. He can't just give up, and I am invested in him succeeding, as I am sure you will be too as you read his story!

I am eagerly awaiting Locum Tenens Volume 3.

Until 3 is out, you should catch up with me and read:
