Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops

We have come a long way since 1870; Ulysses S. Grant was President, the population of America hovered at 39 million, the telephone was still a pipe dream, and J. Herman Pine and his brother, sold their first batch of what they called 'Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets.' In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could soothe and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born. "I have discovered something," Pine wrote, "which will give quick throat relief to thousands afflicted as I was." He added,"Perhaps I won't make much money out of this. But I can make people happy, and that's more important than money." Mr. Pine was being unduly modest, as his "discovery" would become one of the most successful, most delicious and most unique throat lozenges in the world.

Even though a lot has changed since 1870, and the 'Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets' were renamed, 'Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops,' the recipe has not changed appreciably since it was first introduced to the public over 140 years ago.

After 15 years, the Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops are back, and being made in the USA!  There is a reason that they have been a trusted brand since 1870.

They work and they taste great!

I received and reviewed 2 types, the Wild Cherry and the Natural Honey flavors.  Both had an excellent, sweet flavor, that was neither too strong or overpowering, as some lozenges can be. There is no strong, 'Medicine-y," flavor, more a mild, natural flavor, which my family and I really enjoyed. Even the hard to please 7 and 12 year olds couldn't get enough.

My family are chronic allergy sufferers, and the Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops really helped alleviate and soothe all of our sore throats as Spring was springing into action this year.

Natural Honey

"Softish." You may wonder, as I did, what in the heck does that mean?  I am really not sure if there is a better way to describe these throat drops.  They aren't like hard candy or regular lozenges, nor are they as soft as gummy candy or gummy vitamins.  They are somewhere in between.

The Pine Bros Throat Drops come in a bag and a convenient, portable 'Puck,' (as in hockey puck - love it!!).  They are reasonably priced and you can click here to find them in a store near you.
