Free (or Cheap) Junior Ranger Program from the National Park Service

National Park Service
a collection of junior ranger badges and patches from parks across the system

More Free or Cheap things to do this summer with the kids!
Our Girl Scout troop is already planning this one.

The U.S. National Park Service offers a free or inexpensive kids Junior Ranger Program at participating National Parks.  Some Parks offer the program at no cost, others charge a small fee for the materials and pins or patches for the program, it varies from park to park. Scouting Ranger Programs are available for the Girl Scouts  and the Boy Scouts
The Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro has a Junior Ranger Program that is Free.

"Many National Parks offer visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service Family as Junior Rangers. Interested students complete a series of activities during their park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger badge or patch and Junior Ranger certificate."

Head on over to the NPS website for a list of over 200 parks across the country offering the Junior Ranger Programs.
